Twin Glen Burnie veterans get vaccines at VA center
Maryland Gazette - 2/20/2021
Paul and John Smallwood, 82-year-old identical twins from Glen Burnie, went to the Baltimore VA Medical Center last month to get their first COVID vaccines.
The VA Maryland Health Care System, in partnership with the Maryland National Guard, held a walk-in vaccination clinic on Jan. 30 and 31 at the center for veterans 65 and older and who are enrolled with the VA Maryland Health Care System.
A Maryland National Guard Mobile Vaccination Support Team of 11 soldiers and Maryland Defense Force professionals helped facilitate the large-scale vaccinations.
Paul spent six years in the Air Force while John spent 20 years in the Army.
"Getting the vaccine is important. We want to get back to normal," John said.
"What he said," Paul added.
Army Veteran Arkina Taylor brought them to Baltimore for the clinic.
