Barkhamsted, other Lions Clubs invite veterans to join fee-free

The Register Citizen - 6/13/2020

Jun. 13--BARKHAMSTED -- The Barkhamsted Lions Club is offering local U.S. veterans a special opportunity to serve their community.

The "Involve a U.S. Veteran" program is a nationwide initiative sponsored by Lions Clubs International that offers qualified veterans both an entrance fee waiver and annual dues fee waiver when joining the Barkhamsted Lions Club.

Eligible veterans include Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard personnel, who are retired or were honorably discharged from service.

National Guard and Reserve personnel who were called to active duty for other than training -- persons may still be enlisted in these services -- and other personnel the U.S. services consider a veteran are also eligible.

According to a Lions Club fact sheet, the program will apply to the first 5,000 veterans who join during this initiative, through June 30.

The Involve a Veteran Certification Form must be completed by the district governor or club secretary of the appropriate district of the club. The form must be submitted to Lions Clubs International'sAccounts Receivable and Club Account Services Department when reporting a new member using: MyLCI, Report of Charter Members for new clubs, or EMMR (Electronic Monthly Membership Report) for existing clubs. All information requested must be provided to avoid certification and processing delays. The fee waiver will be processed as a credit on the Lions club billing statement upon receipt of the certification form. The Veteran Certification Form can be downloaded from the LCI website or requested by emailing membership@lionsclubs.org
