Riverside man, 64, accused of child sexual abuse in Chino

Press-Enterprise - 6/26/2022

A 64-year-old Riverside man accused of sexually assaulting at least four children between the ages of 5 and 14 in Chino was arrested, authorities said.

On May 27, San Bernardino County sheriff’s investigators were made aware of an inappropriate relationship between Paul Minjarez and four underage victims, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release. It was learned that Minjarez took inappropriate photos of the victims, molested them and also raped one of the victims, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

On June 15, Minjarez was arrested on suspicion of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 years of age and rape by force or fear, authorities said. His bail was set at $500,000, sheriff’s officials said.

On June 17, he was charged with three felony counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 years of age and one count of rape by force or fear, according to San Bernardino County Superior Court records. Minjarez pled not guilty to all charges, records indicated.

It wasn’t immediately clear how Minjarez came into contact with his victims.

Investigators believe there may be additional victims, authorities said.

Anyone with information related to the investigation was asked to contact Detective Wendy Winegar at 909-387-3615.
