San Rafael molestation suspect sentenced to prison

Marin Independent Journal - 6/22/2022

Jun. 22—A San Rafael man convicted of molesting a child for several years has been sentenced to 45 years to life in prison.

Javier Jesus Naalmay, 44, was convicted of nine counts in March following a jury trial in Marin County Superior Court. Authorities said the crimes occurred from 2007 to 2010, starting when the victim was preschool age.

The victim eventually reported the allegations to family members, who contacted police. The victim and the family knew Naalmay.

The trial evidence included a recorded phone call that authorities considered a confession by Naalmay. The defense argued that investigators coached the victim to elicit an incriminating statement.

Naalmay was sentenced on June 2 by Judge Geoffrey Howard in Marin County Superior Court.
