Man denied bond in child molestation case
Thomasville Times-Enterprise - 2/16/2021
Feb. 15—THOMASVILLE — A Coolidge man remains behind bars at the Thomas County Jail after being denied bond in a child molestation case.
William Edward Sykes, 58, is charged with child molestation and aggravated child molestation in incidents that took place several years ago, said Capt. Tim Watkins, Thomas County Sheriff's Office chief investigator. The case is within the statue of limitations, he added.
The sheriff's office Criminal Investigations Division has been working on the case for several weeks.
In a complaint made at the sheriff's office, it was alleged Sykes fondled children and forced a sex act on two children.
Forensic interviews of victims were done at The Treehouse Children's Advocacy Center.
"Sometimes children do not report. When they do, we have to investigate," Watkins said. "When there is probable cause, we make an arrest."
