Registered sex offender new faces child-sex charges in Autauga County

Montgomery Advertiser - 2/16/2021

PRATTVILLE — A twice convicted registered sex offender is facing child sex charges in Autauga County.

Johnny Walker Jr., 51, of the 800 block of County Road 40 is charged with two counts of sodomy and two counts of enticing a child for immoral purposes, said Sheriff Joe Sedinger. Walker was in the Autauga metro jail Tuesday morning under bonds totaling $150,000. He could not be reached for comment and court records show he doesn't have an attorney.

The victim in the case is a teenage girl, the sheriff said. The victim and Walker know one another, he said. Sedinger didn't release specifics about the case because it involves a juvenile and the ongoing nature of the investigation.

According to records of registered sex offenders maintained by the Alabama Department of Public Safety, Walker was convicted in 1991 of two counts of sexual abuse and again in 1997 of attempted rape. The records do not show in what counties the offenses occurred. Walker was released on the attempted rape charge in December of 1997.

The records do not show if Walker served time on the sexual abuse convictions.
