St. Cloud man charged with assaulting woman Wednesday

St. Cloud Times - 2/6/2021

Feb. 6—A 27-year-old St. Cloud man is suspected of choking a woman and hitting her head against a wall Wednesday, according to Stearns County Court records.

Justice Grant faces two charges of felony domestic assault.

The woman told police Grant got angry "because she did not have her location turned on her phone" while she was out, according to the statement of probable cause. He allegedly messaged her that he would damage her property and threatened to beat her if she called police.

When the woman returned and tried to make Grant leave, she said he grabbed her "by the throat and slammed her head against the wall and pinned her there," according to the same documents. She was on speaker phone with someone at the time who reported the incident to police.

Officers found Grant three blocks away. Grant told police "he was not being nice," to the victim but denied putting his hands on her, according to the statement of probable cause.

Grant was convicted of and sentenced for a felony domestic assault charge and a misdemeanor domestic assault charge in 2015, according to court records.

Grant was arrested Wednesday evening and remained in Stearns County Jail on Saturday morning.

Grant made a first appearance in court on Friday. He has a hearing scheduled for Feb. 18.
