Carbondale police seek Scranton man accused of sexually abusing 7-year-old

Times-Tribune - 7/8/2020

Jul. 8--Carbondale police seek a Scranton man wanted for sexually abusing a 7-year-old girl.

Police say Christopher Thomas Grant, 22, of 1201 N. Main Ave., inappropriately touched and took photos of the girl while he visited a home in Simpson and slept in her bedroom. He then posted some of those images to Facebook. A search warrant of his phone, found in the victim's bedroom, revealed additional images and videos of the girl and Grant together.

Grant is wanted for sexual abuse of a child, aggravated indecent assault, corruption of minors and possessing child pornography, according to the criminal complaint.

During an interview with police, Grant told officers he could not read or write, and that the 7-year-old girl acted as the "sexual aggressor" and took the photos and posted them to Facebook while he slept.

After Grant posted photos to Facebook, someone took a screenshot of his profile picture and shared a warning that he had posted inappropriate photos and anyone who knew his whereabouts should contact police. Scranton police received calls from across the country in response to the post.

Police arrested Grant in May, and he was released from Lackawanna County Prison on $50,000 bail on June 3. He did attend his bail hearing, which was scheduled for Tuesday in Central Court. Anyone with information on Grant's location should contact the Lackawanna County 911 Center, 570-342-9111.
