Lancaster County man must register as a sex offender after assaulting woman, beating her toddler son: prosecutors

Patriot-News - 7/2/2020

A Lancaster man is facing up to 20 years in prison for beating and sexually assaulting a woman, then abusing her young son for crying during the ordeal, prosecutors said.

Luis Martinez-Colomba’s claims that his lawyer was ineffective and the woman was lying weren’t convincing enough for the Lancaster County judge who sentenced him on Tuesday to 7 1/2 to 20 years in prison.

The 33-year-old must also register as a sex offender for life, according to District Attorney Heather Adams.

In a vehicle on Aug. 22, 2018, Martinez-Colomba “beat the woman, forced her to perform a sexual act, then beat the toddler because he cried during the assault,” Adams said in a news release.

He then hid for two weeks in wooded areas in Quarryville and Lancaster County Park, the district attorney said.

Citing a history of domestic violence, prosecutors described Martinez-Colomba as a “monster” who preys on the “weak and helpless.”

While handing down the sentence, Judge Margaret Miller said he’s been violent with every woman in his life and the community needs to be protected from him.

A jury found Martinez-Colomba guilty of aggravated assault of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, endangering welfare and two misdemeanors.
