Man to serve local jail sentence for domestic assault

The Daily Globe - 6/14/2020

Jun. 13--WORTHINGTON -- An April domestic assault arrest in Worthington culminated Tuesday in a local jail sentence.

Christopher Murillo, 24, was arrested earlier this year after a victim reported that Murillo pushed them into a wall during an argument. He pleaded guilty to the charge of felony domestic assault and received a stay of imposition at his sentencing Tuesday. A stay of imposition is a ruling in which the judge declares the defendant guilty and allows the defendant to serve a probation term in lieu of prison time, but does not pronounce a sentence duration.

Fifth Judicial District Judge Gordon Moore ordered Murillo to abide by the terms of supervised probation for four years. He will also serve a total of 90 days locally in Nobles County Jail, after credit for 59 days already served, and pay a fine of $1,000, which he may work off through community service.

The Southwest Crisis Center is available in our community to support and empower survivors of sexual and domestic violence. For questions about services or how you can help contact the Southwest Crisis Center at 1-800-376-4311 or mnswcc.org.
