Allied Services' Pebble Beach golf raffle tickets on sale now

Times Leader - 5/22/2022

May 22--WILKES-BARRE -- Jim Brogna, Vice President of Strategic Partnership at Allied Services, said over the past 14 years, since MotorWorld Lexus has shared the Lexus Champions for Charity award with Allied Services, the Autism Golf Classic at Huntsville Golf Club has been elevated to one of the premiere charity golf events in the region.

"The Lexus Autism Golf Classic and its wonderful volunteer committee raises more than $100,000 in annual net proceeds for pediatric rehabilitation programs and services that benefit children on the autism spectrum in Northeastern Pennsylvania," Brogna said.

Brogna said this about the autism programs at Allied Services:

--Autism, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a developmental disability caused by differences in the brain. The term refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication.

--Treatments for autism aim to reduce symptoms and support the child's quality of life. Interventions can take place at school, in the home, and with health care professionals.

--At Allied Services, autistic children can benefit from physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy interventions individualized for their needs.

--32,839: the number of therapeutic sessions provided to children at Allied Services in Wilkes-Barre and Scranton in 2021.

--600: the number of pediatric patients served by Allied Services, including children with challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and non-verbal communication, common to autism and autism spectrum disorders.
